
I had the good fortune of creating desserts for two milestone events on June 21st.
One was for a wedding out in the gorge. A custom recipe custard cake consisting of key lime sponge, yuzu curd and passionfruit custard. Key lime bars were done for the guests as well.
The other was for a a Swedish woman’s 93rd birthday party. I did her favorite Swedish Midsommer cake made of almond sponge, creme patissier, whipped cream and fresh strawberries. There was also Hindbaersnitter cookies for her Danish husband.
It was a lot of work in one week, along with the stress of making desserts that wouldn’t ruin their day. Thankfully, the bride and birthday loved their cakes. It’s such a satisfying feeling to work with a customer to create unique desserts.
